Sandy Chen

CEO & Co-Founder

Sandy Chen

CEO & Co-Founder

With over 30 years of experience in the banking and finance sector, Sandy gained prominence as the analyst calling the Great Financial Crisis of 2007-9, identifying key weaknesses in the UK banks and the financial system overall.

Sandy has written a book on bank analysis and valuation, been a prominent media commentator on finance and macro issues, and testified at Parliamentary Committees on UK banking. Having advised companies from the start-up phase through to IPO and beyond, Sandy is an entrepreneur at heart. He’s led his own start-ups and, as co-founder of Graphene Composites, he’s the author of numerous nanotechnology patents pending.

In addition to his role at GC, he’s also a Non-Executive Director on the board of Unity Trust Bank PLC. Sandy holds a B.A. magna cum laude et cum honoribus in International Relations (Business) and a B.A. in Economics from Brown University in the US.

Graham Laycock

Financial Director

Graham is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) having qualified with Price Waterhouse.

Graham spent 15 years in senior finance roles within Data General Corporation, a NASDAQ-listed technology company, including CFO of Northern European operations, successfully managing several M&A deals across Europe. He was also CFO of Barclays Group Technology Services between 1998 and 1999, followed by Barclays Retail Distribution from 2000 to 2005 where he saw through the successful purchase of Woolwich Building Society.

In the past 10 years, Graham has focused on advising fast growth, disruptive businesses within the insurance, brewing, nanotechnology, SaaS and digital media sectors. Graham holds a BA (Hons) in Accountancy and Law from Liverpool University.

Steve has over 25 years of experience in Senior R&D roles within multinational chemical companies.

Following a PhD studying the production and incorporation of nanoparticles into polymers, Steve established a proven track record in producing disruptive new technologies across a wide range of market sectors and taking them to market.

Steve combines his deep knowledge of nanotechnology with a practical, cross-disciplinary approach; in the framework of GC’s agile development process, this has enabled him to develop, test and refine several formulations quickly and effectively, saving GC a significant amount of time and making our products cheaper to produce.

Carol Jarvest

Carol has over 20 years of experience in the marketing industry, working for the world’s largest largest marketing agencies Rapp, Epsilon and more recently Dentsu Aegis Network.

With a specific focus on data-driven, CRM and digital marketing, Carol has worked with many large companies across B2B and B2C sectors to support data and customer engagement strategies.

Carol has been a member of several local community organisations, including as a Parish Councillor for 8 years, working with local government and youth services. She holds a BSc in Business Studies as well as a post graduate Diploma in Marketing (Dip M).

Ann Devine

Production and Quality Control Manager

After completing an MSc degree in Quality Engineering at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Ann amassed over 30 years of experience within the quality function of various manufacturing industries, primarily automotive and fabrication of pressure vessels.

With extensive knowledge of quality systems and requirements, auditing, problem solving techniques and testing, Ann has undertaken both customer-facing and new product introduction roles which will benefit GC as we move towards production of our Shields and Armour.

Darren Delaney

Darren recently retired as Rhode Island State Police Captain after serving 25 years. He has extensive experience conducting physical structure security vulnerability assessments on all types of government and private facilities. He’s also skilled in drafting operational response preparedness plans and in delivering training for incidents such as active shooter situations.

Darren has worked with numerous school districts and educational institutes in Rhode Island, including as Public School Safety Coordinator for the City of Cranston, where he ensured schools and police were in compliance with federal, state and local regulations for school safety and preparedness.

Having received many commendations, including the Medal of Valour for his management of force situations, he also holds a Master of Science degree in Administration of Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University.

In over two decades of product leadership within start-up and multinational firms, Mox has brought numerous disruptive technology products to market. He is well versed in agile product development and, with broad experience across industrial and geographic markets, has the proven ability to capture and translate diverse customer and partner requirements.

Mox has held key leadership positions in various technology firms, including Vice President of Product Management at L3 Technologies (now L3Harris Technologies), Senior Director, Marketing, at MicroStrategy, President at Digital Authentication Technologies, and Regional Manager at American Power Conversion (now Schneider Electric).

He has an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, as well as A.B. degrees in Computer Science and Comparative Literature from Brown University.

Charlotta was born in Oslo, Norway, has studied in the United States and Spain, and is currently based in the UK. She has a BA (Hons) in International Business Management from Richmond University, the American International University in London. There she served as president of the Women in Leadership Society and International Affairs Society.

Bob McKittrick MD

Senior Advisor, GC USA

As Senior Advisor for GC USA, Bob McKittrick’s responsibilities involve advising on product design, development and deployment, including our Armour, Aerospace Composite and Lightning Harvester Technologies. He also facilitates relationships with political, military, medical and law enforcement authorities.

Having begun his journey as a New Jersey State Trooper, Bob brings over 40 years of expertise and experience gained within the highest levels of medicine, the military, law enforcement, security and weapons.

He’s previously served in Washington D.C. as the Chief of Health Programs and Acting Medical Director for the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. This covered approximately 40,000 staff members nationally, including 3,800 medical personnel. He’s also been Chief Sports Physician for the State of Rhode Island, Department of Business Regulation, assisting with policy and overseeing professional sporting events within the state. Bob is licensed worldwide by the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA), and has served as Team-USA’s physician for the U.S.A. Boxing National Team.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and a Doctorate in Medicine, both from Brown University, Bob also has formal training in Internal Medicine, Neurology and Family Practice Medicine. He’s a former U.S. Army Brigade Surgeon and Flight Surgeon and honourably served for many years in multiple theatres of operation, including Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East. He’s amassed an extensive history of lecturing, teaching and imparting his scientific and medical knowledge. Finally, Bob holds a 9th degree black belt in Karate and was recently inducted into the Isshinryu Karate Hall of Fame.

A serial entrepreneur for over 30 years, Bill has been principal in over 40 start-up and early-stage companies ranging from healthcare services, medical devices, data exchanges to e-commerce platforms and media-tech. He’s an active mentor and angel investor throughout the US and currently serves in an executive role with multiple early-stage companies as well as Managing Partner of RevUp Capital, an investment firm. He holds both a Master’s and a Doctoral degree in human physiology as well as being a Board-Certified Ergonomist.

Bill will serve as a founding member and Chair of the GC USA Advisory Board, working closely with the CEO and other executives to develop and refine the Corporate Roadmap and build Brand Equity.

Randall is a business leader who has vast experience in creating successful companies. Randall has served on multiple leadership boards throughout his career and has enjoyed being a mentor for many small businesses. Ultimately, he loves working with driven people and building successful companies with a focus on treating people well.

While studying for his BS in Marketing at Central Connecticut State University, Randall worked for an international company focused on working with the US Military. After graduating, he then progressed into the IT industry where he was fast-tracked into the executive leadership program at a Fortune 50 company. Soon after, he saw an opportunity and joined a very small IT company with 10 employees.

As a member of the executive leadership team and part owner, he helped developed the business strategy while holding many leadership positions. The company grew to be one of the largest privately held technology companies in the US amassing 1000 employees and $1 billion
in annual sales.

Molly is a mechanical engineering student at Northumbria University, who is doing a one-year placement with GC before returning to her final year of study. She has a passion for research and development in green tech.

Molly will be working alongside the technical team in the labs in Sedgefield.
