Innovation in

GC is an innovative nanomaterials engineering company, driven by an ethos to create life-changing products.

As a world leader in nanomaterials research, development and design, we apply our core nanomaterials engineering expertise to a wide range of applications and work with manufacturers to resolve key technical challenges, by developing breakthrough solutions and incorporating our technologies to enhance existing product performance.

Our core composite technology is used in key product areas where the combination of strength and lightness is crucial. Our ballistic armour provides lightweight protection for individuals and can be incorporated within buildings such as schools to create effective protection in large spaces. And our GC nanomaterials technologies make wind turbines more durable and resilient – reducing maintenance costs and improving efficiency.

In the fight against Covid-19, we have developed a unique, virucidal and germicidal ink that can be used in a broad range of applications including PPE, filtration solutions and high-tech surfaces, that capture and destroy viruses and bacteria.

All products have patents registered or patents pending.

GC has a close technology development partnership with the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI), and in particular its Graphene Application Centre. 

CPI is a part of the UK Government’s High-Value Manufacturing Catapult, which has a directive to help SMEs take products from concept to market. 

GC has a strategic joint development agreement with CPI covering graphene and GC’s proprietary aerogel composites, whilst GC retains all commercial rights to the intellectual property (IP) that is developed. Examples of this are the patent applications that GC has filed covering graphene/aerogel composite technology.
