Our latest certified test results on GC Halo® a unique coating for air filters that destroys viruses, bacteria and mould on contact, has shown significant improvements in indoor air quality (IAQ).
Coronavirus airflow tests conducted by leading California-based Innovative Bioanalysis showed that a GC Halo® coated air filter achieved a significant amount of reduction after a single air pass and in their words “the decline of SARS-CoV-2 in the air was consistent with the manufacturer’s claims that the air filter can decrease the concentration of active pathogens in the air”. The GC Halo coated air filter reduced viable airborne SARS-CoV-2 by 77% in a single pass in a ventilation duct airflow – this is expected to increase with additional passes.
SARS-CoV-2 Reduction: The graph displays recovered active SARS-CoV-2 with and without the Graphene Composites GC Halo™ coated air filter operating in the chamber. The controls showed natural loss of aerosolized SARS-CoV-2 after a single air pass under controlled conditions.
In separate tests conducted by global laboratories SGS against mould (Aspergillus brasiliensis), the GC Halo coated air filter achieved 99.99% fungicidal efficacy, or as SGS put it, “10x more effective than an “excellent” rating”. Controlling mould is a key health & safety priority – but the higher-powered HVAC systems that are required to support higher MERV-rated filters tend to increase moisture levels in ventilation shafts, resulting in increased mould growth. Regardless of the MERV rating of the existing HVAC system, GC Halo air filters will significantly reduce mould levels in the airflow.
This is important because mould (1) is hard to kill, and (2) weakens human immune systems. And although anti-Covid measures have been waning, there is still strong demand for the “invisible” protection that GC Halo air filters provide.
As with many other pesticides, the anti-mould treatments tend to be very toxic – whereas GC Halo has repeatedly been shown to be both hugely effective and safe, e.g. non-cytotoxic, with undetectable levels of shedding of the graphene oxide/silver nanoparticle formulation in over 20,000 samples taken.

GC’s manufacturing partner, Sun Filter, will be at the Bangkok RHVAC Conference 7th – 9th September, showcasing the GC Halo technology on their branded NanoGuard filters.

About GC Halo
GC has developed a pioneering formulation, GC Halo®, that destroys pathogens by forming a ‘trap and kill’ layer on air filters. Fast-acting, safe and more than 99% effective against SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, flu, bacteria and mould. Independent tests and certifications prove GC Halo’s capabilities as a filter coating to deliver cleaner and safer indoor air.
