We are extremely pleased to announce that the Board of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, chaired by Governor Gina M. Raimondo and with the support of Secretary of Commerce Stefan Pryor, voted unamimously to approve an Innovation Voucher to support testing of our GC Ink against the Covid-19 coronavirus.
These tests, to be conducted by Brown University’s top virologists in the Rhode Island Department of Health’s highly-secure BSL3 (Bio Safety Level 3) labs, build on earlier Brown tests that have shown fast-acting 100% virucidal efficacy versus Human Influenza A virus, which is similar to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. These earlier tests are due to be published in the next few weeks. The results of these newly-approved BSL3 tests versus SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus are expected early in the new year.
GC CEO and Co-founder, Sandy Chen (Brown Class of 1988) said, “Having the support of the State of Rhode Island, led by Governor Raimondo, is invaluable. GC Ink can – and will – have a major positive impact on this pandemic – and Rhode Island is a crucial enabler in this.”
